Disease presentation
The disease is characterized by recurrent symptoms of acute pericardiatis with symptoms reappearing after a disease-free period of 4-6 weeks.
Main clinical symptoms
Chest pain
Heart membrane (pericardium) inflammation as highlighted by imaging techniques
Fever
Biological signs
Increase of erythrocyte sedimentation rate
Increase of C-reactive protein (CRP)
Increase of white blood cell count
Therapy
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs/aspirin combined with Colchicine
- Corticosteroids
- Anti-IL-1 (Anakinra)
- Immunosuppressive drugs (azathioprine)
